Dia de los Muertos

The Day of the Dead-
El Día de
Los Muertos

El Dia de Los Muertos–the Day of the Dead is a traditional event in Mexico and in many Mexican American communities, to remember deceased family and friends whose spirits visit the earth once a year. Unlike Halloween, El Dia de Los Muertos is not a scary time but one for reflection. It is a reminder that life and death are part of a natural cycle, and that the spirits of those we care about are always with us.

November 2- 4th, 2007

This year, events took place at the Bayside Grange, the Ink People Center for the Arts and Cooper Gulch Recreation Center. A large group of community members and organizations came together as Humboldt Communidad. They organized and shared their art and experiences as it related to this special time of year. We thank the organizers, food preparers, decorators, performers, donors, sponsors, artists, and family members for their contributions.
