Hemp Vs Cannabis?

Here in Mendocino, everyone, like it ot not, knows medical cannabis economically sustains the county, and many of us believe this is true with Humbolt and other Northern CA counties. In Mendocino County, medical cannabis is legal under a doctor's recomendation, and a license, purchased from sherriffs' dept.. We talk about cannabis' slang word, "Marijuana", on the radio, the newspaper, town hall meetings, and in casual conversation. We also talk allot about sustainable energy, bio fuel, solar power, ocean generators, turbines, peak oil, but we do not talk about industrial hemp because it's a "no brainer" industrial hemp could cross pollinate marijuana crops. I believe this needs to be addressed by the Progressive Granges. The CSG backed industrial hemp crops with AB1147, and today we have HR862, which I do not know if CSG or Lobbiest Michael Greene are supporting (they should). I believe we should dicuss this issue because the federal government is NOT budging to legalize cannabis, and only parts of this state have made it legal to grow for personal use, but NONE offer protection against any federal arrest. Yesterday, our Sherrif, Tom Allman, who was voted in because of his pro-cannabis stand, said on the radio, the "profit crops", the crops grown by greed, were going to be shut down. I guess those troops returning from Iraq need other work? Meanwhile, no one is talking about industrial hemp. We are in Iraq conflicted over oil (indeed there are many issues with this war). Bush mentioned switchgrass as an alternative fuel source. I had never heard of it. I looked it up and Switchgrass is a Monsanto Genetically Modefied mustard developed for McDonnell-Douglass. Do we want GM crops? Mendocino does not. Switchgrass promises to produce 2400 gals bio fuel per acre. Industrial hemp produces 1200 gals per acre. Corn 700 gals per acre. Globalization is taking away our rights and making the cannabis farmer in Mendocino no different than the Afighani poppy farmer or the Peruvian cocoa farmer in the eyes of our federal govt, which includes Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer. The War on Drugs has been silent during the Bush terms, for in it's silence, it has grown more powerful and is going to take this power "home" to us. I really think we should be talking about this.
