Programs

A Place for Community to Gather

The Bayside Grange continues to be a host for forums on Farming, Salmonids, Fire Planning, Septic systems, Historic Preservation, Peace, Candidate Debates, Victims of Natural Disasters, California Indian Storytelling, African Dance & Folk Music. Local projects have included the history of Granges, Dia de Los Muertos at the Grange, workshops for local government and working with the Humboldt Historic Preservation Network.

Civic Engagement

The Grange fosters diverse representation in all levels of the democratic process including boards of directors, neighborhood associations, local government commissions, and elective office. Grassroots organizing, informal networks, and bartering.

Community Haritage

Comunity Heritage is not about buildings, but people. It is more effective when it engages diverse communities to document and interpret their own history.

Cultural Tourism

Cultural Tourism is another way to preserve traditions while diversifying the economy.

Sustainable Agriculture

Farm to School is a statewide and national program bringing farm fresh fruits & vegetables directly to the school to reduce childhood obesity and improve school lunch nutrition. Do not let ignorance about implementation obstacles be the price of our children's health.

Help connect your food service personnel to farmers. Call Jack at 822-9998.

The Grange Movement was a way to support farmers. Now, years later Progressive Granges across California are defining a new agenda.

Agricultural Tourism deepens appreciation for Agriculture and Heritage Preservation through giving travelers opportunities to experience farm and ranch operations and make purchases at the source.

Food security is an ever more pressing issue due to the complexities of transporation, trade, water, health, and farm worker labor. Supporting organizations include the Northcoast Growers Association Farmers Markets, and Food for People.
