Yoga Class

Yoga at the Grange

(Yoga for Beginners and Stiff People)

As part of Grange community service, yoga classes at the Bayside Grange are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30pm to 8:00pm.

To sign up, or ask questions, please call Anita Alexander, a certified, experienced yoga teacher, at 825-7966, or e-mail her at anitara@humboldt1.com. Classes will consist of a loosening up series, basic postures, relaxation, and meditation, with integrated breathwork in all phases.

About Yoga

Flexibility is not a prerequisite before you start.  In fact the only requirement is that you can breathe, because Yoga actually teaches us to breath better, deeper and more consciously, and the physical postures are built around the breath.

Yoga practice also teaches us to become more aware of what is happening in our bodies and in our minds.  So the stiffer you are, the easier it is to feel your body and what it's doing.

Classes will allow for individual abilities and will help you work within your limits, not forcing you beyond what your body can safely do.  Yogas about learning to relax, not creating more stress by forcing yourself into pain, or feeling you failed at a certain pose.

When class ends you usually feel both energized and relaxed at the same time.

Join us, at the Grange, Tuesday and Thursday evenings.  Dress in layers.  Bring your yoga mat, a blanket or two, a cloth to cover your eyes in relaxation.  Classes are FREE to Grange members; non-members pay $5.00 per class.
